Abstract：

In this talk, the fundamental concepts of colloid and interface science, which are closely related to nanoscale phenomena, will first be introduced. Among typical colloidal systems, I will focus on a special class of colloids—gels—which consist of two phases and exhibit network structures with characteristic length scales in the colloidal range. A gel is a soft material that exhibits both solid-like and liquid-like behavior. More precisely, it is a semi-solid system in which a liquid phase is confined within a three-dimensional polymer network. The definition, properties, and classification of gels will be presented. Finally, I will introduce deep eutectic solvents, which can be used to form a class of gels known as eutectogels, and briefly discuss selected results.
