摘要 :

This presentation will provide an overview of Prof. Subrahmanyam’s group research activities at IIT Hyderabad, India, in particular, on the development and applications of  synthetic carbons as a versatile platform for the following environmental, energy  and sensing applications.
(i) To synthesize novel carbon-based materials, encompassing graphene composites, biochar composites, multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) foams, and hydrogel carbons, utilizing eco-friendly and cost-effective methodologies,
(ii) To comprehensively characterize the physicochemical properties of these engineered carbon nanomaterials, employing a suite of advanced techniques to elucidate their structural, morphological, surface, and electronic characteristics, aiming to establish clear structure-property relationships that govern their performance in targeted applications; and
(iii) To rigorously investigate the application of these engineered carbon materials for both: Environmental Remediation, focusing on the efficient removal of specific and representative aqueous and Energy Storage, targeting the development of high-performance supercapacitors utilizing aqueous electrolytes to demonstrate their potential in sustainable energy storage technologies. The selective functionalization of the carbons, followed by their applications for environment, energy and sensing will be highlighted.
