摘要 :

Plasmonic catalysis offers a compelling route for promoting chemical transformations by leveraging intense light-matter interactions and highly localized electromagnetic fields within metallic nanostructures. These phenomena enable the concentration of optical energy and access to reaction pathways that are difficult to realize with conventional catalytic materials. Despite this promise, many plasmonic catalytic systems are still limited by inefficient use of plasmonic excitation, modest intrinsic reactivity, and insufficient control over reactant transport and activation, particularly under dilute reactant conditions. In this talk, I will introduce recent progress from our group in addressing these challenges through the rational design of plasmonic nanocatalysts. Our approach combines hierarchical plasmonic nanoparticles, cooperative nanoparticle assemblies, and purpose-built solid-liquid-gas catalytic interfaces to improve light capture, energy localization, and catalyst-molecule interactions. By concurrently focusing optical energy and regulating molecular behavior at reactive sites, these plasmonic architectures enable more effective light-driven chemical conversions. These advances offer promising pathways toward sustainable energy and environmental technologies, including the efficient light-driven production of green hydrogen and ammonia.

 

 

 

學經歷 :

Hiang Kwee Lee is a Nanyang Assistant Professor at the School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, Nanyang Technological University (NTU). His research program combines chemistry, nanotechnology, material sciences, and in operando spectroscopy to develop next-generation catalytic ensembles aimed at addressing global energy and environmental crises. Before joining NTU as a faculty member, Hiang Kwee worked as a post-doctoral scholar with Professor Yi Cui at Stanford University under the Singapore Teaching and Academic Research Talent (START) scheme. He earned his doctorate and bachelor’s degrees in chemistry from NTU in 2018 and 2013, respectively. He was the recipient of the Nanyang Assistant Professorship, College of Science International Postdoctoral Scholarship (NTU), Dr and Mrs Alex Tan Pang Kee gold medal, A*STAR graduate scholarship, and the Shell Eastern Petroleum Gold medal Cum Cash Award.
