摘要 :

Waste heat is abundant, especially in the Chemical Industry. Despite a massive amount of low-grade waste heat (e.g. heat not sufficient to generate super-heated steam) there are no widespread commercially viable methods of harnessing it. Our research focusses upon the emerging area of thermoelectrochemical (or thermogalvanic) devices. With just a redox couple, a solvent and two electrodes, entropy-driven redox chemistry can convert minor temperature gradients into a continuous flow of electricity.
