摘要 :
Polybenzimidazole (PBI) is a high-performance polymer known for its excellent thermal and chemical stability, outstanding mechanical strength, good dimensional stability, and low gas permeability. Owing to its amphoteric nature, PBI can be tailored into four types of polymer electrolyte membranes: acid-doped proton exchange membranes (PEMs), homogeneous PEMs, alkali-doped anion exchange membranes (AEMs), and homogeneous AEMs. This versatility makes PBI a promising polymer backbone for electrolyte membranes in various electrochemical devices. This presentation will focus on our recent research on PBI-based polymer electrolyte membranes for high-temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cell (HT-PEMFC), anion exchange membrane fuel cell (AEMFC), alkaline water electrolysis (AWE), and anion exchange membrane water electrolysis (AEMWE) applications. In addition, our strategies for optimizing membrane performance through various modifications, including nanocomposites incorporated with porous crystalline nanomaterials (MOFs and COFs), asymmetric structural design, sulfonation, and phosphoric acid pre-treatment, will be presented.
